People claim “peace to reign”, and simply sweep matters under the carpet as against addressing the underlying issue.
No consequences, no new laws, no boundaries, no compensation, no behavioral therapy, nothing.
Just ” apologies” and show of “reconciliation”. Then the same issue keeps popping up with increasingly worse manifestations and we keep burying an insanely vicious cycle of suffering and pain where we blame the victim if they do not agree to ” peace” at the expense of their safety and (emotional) well being and the perpetrator continues to act with impunity partly because they know they can get away with it, partly because they are not held accountable for improving their behaviour.
It continues until one party simply gives up or loses their life. Then we eulogize the sainthood of the dead party or blame them if they walk away.
I hate it. Hate is a strong word, yes – but I hate it. A lot.
It’s 2020 but we still find ways to blame the victim – because we decided as a collective society to hide from the truth, even at the cost of people’s lives.
