I miss you! No kidding.
I know I love to stay (and work) indoors, but this lockdown is a different scenario. I Miss being able to call for hangouts and have brainstorm sessions with so much light and wisdom blazing, warm bear hugs and kisses, plus the beautiful fellowship of good food.

On the other hand, I have spent the past months soaking in immense wisdom in fellowship with the Holy Spirit, listening to my teachers, and teaching from what I am learning and applying.

Let me share a lesson I learned in the past month (or maybe 2). The first lesson has literally helped me to step into optimum productivity from the place of rest, and enjoy my process much more than exist in anxious frustration at the speed of execution and reception.

I stepped into this while listening to my teachers expound on the powers of staying in the secret place (God’s Presence) and its profound effects in helping you stay inspired, fuelled and energized; functioning from the place of Divine Purpose. By the way, how you know that God has planted you with teachers after His heart, is when you step out of one person’s class/session, and into another, and it’s like they’re all reading from one single script. They literally pick up from where the last person stopped, and follow through. It feels like they all got one single memo about the mental address that you’re at, and through them, you can hear God saying “I got you”. (Special shout out to Debola Deji-Kurunmi and Pastor Biodun Fatoyimbo on this week’s episode of God saying “you need to learn this all over again”).  Anyway, back to the gist of the matter:

The process of birthing ideas has 2 steps: the creating and the forming. The creating is like the inspirational lightbulb moment, while the forming is when you shape the idea in your mind into tangible reality.

If you read Genesis 1, the Bible says in verse 26 “let us make man”????

“Tada!” Light bulb moment. The inspirational epiphany. The moment in time that your mind literally awakens and steps into the possibility of a whole new dimension. In our day, time, and dialect, it probably sounds more like “-if I do ABC in XYZ way, it could be my ground-breaking idea” “I af blow???”

And because it is such a nice idea, you step into it and start to “execute”. Verse 27 “…so God created man…”

You get a logo, set up your Instagram account, get registered/incorporated…

Then you take it to another level: assemble your team, share your well articulated vision and mission statement, define objectives, get into market research…

You may even be badass: create prototypes, design customer experience…

Hats off. Well done. As a human, created in the likeness of God the creator, you are at your finest self, the highest expression of your nature. Amazing. You are right in track.

But…

Let me break the news to you: no matter how grand this phase was, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. You are yet to start. Yup! You got that right. You haven’t even scratched the surface. It doesn’t matter whether you gained 1 kobo, or 1 million, you’re yet to start. You want proof? Verse 31 of Genesis 1 tells us that “…God saw EVERYTHING that He had made, and it was good…” But Verse 7 of Chapter 2 says “…and the Lord God formed man out of the dust of the ground, and breathed life into him, and man became a living being…”

???You’ve got to ask: “you created man already”. What are you making again?

Here’s what happened: in chapter 1, He pulled the concept of man from nothingness into possibility. In chapter 2, He pours that concept into a frame that could keep on replicating and expanding exponentially. In today’s parlance, we are talking about structure (both internal and external).

Until man had the frame called Adam, he could not function/be productive, he could not replicate, collaborate, or assert his influence on the earth, even though he had been blessed/bequeathed with dominion over the earth in Chapter 1. Mind-blowing, isn’t it?

He had to step into the frame that empowered him to execute what he was born to do. He had to become a more substantial entity, than the spirit being that He originally was to be able to assert himself and change the world. The same way your idea needs proper structure, channels and a well-defined identity to be able to leave tangible long-lasting footprints in the sands of time. The same way that you need to grow into the sort of person that can comfortably carry your global-vision, mission and mandate, without being crushed by the demands of your assignment. Do you see?

This second step, the forming, is where you start to craft a company policy. Where you start to separate your person from the idea; where you start to prune yourself to be able to occupy the role/niche that you are crafting for yourself within your idea. (a true visionary idea is so much bigger than you, by the way. You may provide oversight and direction, but you are a miniscule part of the idea in itself.). This is where you start to acknowledge that while you are a brilliant mind, you need help to step into a higher version of yourself to be able to comfortably execute the world-transforming vision that you now carry. You start to reach out to those who have gone ahead of you on similar tracks for mentorship, internship or even apprenticeship to make sure that you have what you need to know. You start to switch up your close associates, start to get deliberate about who you are watching and paying attention to. You start to set yourself up to apply what you are learning, getting a coach to hold your hand and push you through the often difficult and challenging transformational process, to help you keep perspective and stay grounded when the going gets tough (after all, youncanjot read the label on a box that you are in). You start to take courses that show you more about the journey that you are on.

You start to invest in yourself. You’re going on a knowledge quest, soaking up valid information, sifting the wealth of knowledge that comes to you for gems of wisdom. You start to use what you have been able to determine about your idea to shape your quest for knowledge and chart your course. Do you see? The idea refines you, as you refine it. This is creativity at its peak. Don’t you just love it?

This formative process, is what prepares you for the actual manifestation of the dream. The creation process was but a foreshadow of the potential of the idea that first entered your mind; and if you batten down, and settle into the process, you’d blow your own mind.

So, I know that working from home in a pandemic is a bit different from working from home on a normal day – whether you have a job, run a business or need to switch your niche/industry.
