Time Management

(from the IBO Execution boot camp where I served as a Faculty member)

Schedule some time each week to take care of your time. Treat your time as if it were money.

So here’s the wisdom we’re transferring:

  • monitoring
  • budgeting
  • evaluation

For monitoring, do a time log for 4 – 7 days. Write down what you did each hour over the span of that monitoring period.
Don’t attempt to change any habits while monitoring, simply record

The time log exercise would show you the activities that take up your time but does not push you towards your goals for the day/week/month/quarter
It would show you whether you have a time management problem, or a case of low energy (both look alike)

For budgeting,
Based on what you now know about yourself, plan your day/week and set the non-negotiable things that must be achieved. Put it on your calendar if need be (Google calendar is highly recommended) and set reminders. Remember to schedule time to sleep, to rest and to play

For evaluation,
Before you set the goals for the next time frame, take a look at how you fared, then tweak and make adjustments accordingly

P.S.: if you did not do too well, don’t punish yourself by overcramming the next time slot. It would be setting yourself up for premium tears

If you want specific handholding for time management, I’ve got a coaching track for that you can sign up for, or write to info@pkhadassah.com.ng for more information about signing up.
