When a Yes…

When a Yes…

When a yes blindsides you

You’ve been hard at work, giving it your best. You know that it’s way beyond you: you’ve reached out for help, gotten turned down, either because they can’t help, or because they can’t see what you see. (I’m ignoring the category of those who just don’t want to help).

You’ve put your back to the grind, rolled up your sleeves, knelt in the mud, gotten down to it. You’ve learned to pivot in the face of closed doors, to keep creating new answers.

Then you stumble into another opportunity, another chance. And out of habit, you try again. Not because you expect a yes, but because you’re just following routine (or maybe the call of your heart). In fact, you’re so sure that it’s a closed door (make that a locked door) that as you try, you’re already leaning on the door to catch your breath before moving on.

Then you fall in: it wasn’t a closed door. It was a wide open space. You’ve somehow, in your mad journey of rejections and disappointments, reached the outskirts of the zone of success. The breakthrough is chilling, strange, and you don’t know what to do with it.

  1. Keep doing. A yes is still an invitation to do more work. It’s the goals that changed, not the process.
  2. Celebrate. Cry if you have to. Dance like you know how to. Reflect. Rejoice. Refuel
  3. Expect more yeses. You are in the zone.

War with your prophecy, and win. God got you.

Abba loves you

…and so do I

Shalom.
